Why do you think religion is important in people's lives ?

hi everyone!! today I am going to talk to you about religion.

First I think it's relevant to clarify my position on religion. The truth lately I have questioned myself a lot if I follow the catholic religion because I really believe in it or because of habit and upbringing, since all my family believes in this religion and I was educated following it, however I have realized that it doesn't bother me to think that there is some divinity or being that can worry about us wanting our welfare, however I think the problem is that most people don't respect the other ideologies on the subject although most have the same basic structure, of a creator god.

And on the other hand, I believe that the problem in itself isn't the religions, neither the faith of believing in things that we can't see or prove their existence, I believe that the problem is in the institutions that predicate them, and appropriate and propagate a single truth. It bothers me that they believe that their way of interpreting their religion is the correct one and force other people to think the same. In addition to that, there are the problems that have come to light of religious people who have committed crimes by aggressing minors or other people, which makes their religion look very bad, however, again I think that there in lies the problem, in "following the prophet and not the god" because my faith shouldn't depend on what that person does or says, because in the end it only divulges their interpretation.

Taking into account the above and in spite of that, I do believe that religion is something important in people's lives, because they need to believe in something and hold on to it, they need to have faith, they need to have hope. It helps some people by positively motivating them to change bad habits or helps them to see another perspective of their life and what surrounds them. Religion is something very important to the culture, it is part of the diversity of its inhabitants.
